Wedding:: September 24 | Maggie + John

Billed as a ‘LoveFest’ Maggie & John McCecil’s wedding didn’t disappoint. From the intimate, beautiful wedding in the garden at Maggie’s parent’s house to the Love Fest reception at the Iowa State Fair Grounds featuring bluegrass band Mr. Baber’s Neighbors the day was an amazing display of love.

I love when so many personal touches are added to weddings to make them so much more than ‘just another wedding.’ Maggie & John did a great job of making their day unique and something to remember for all of their guests. I loved the hand drawn guest book tree and the personalized ‘M’ that was at their feet during the ceremony. Thank you to both for the wonderful imagery that made this wedding so fun and easy to shoot!

Wedding:: October 8 | Emily + Michael

I couldn’t have been more excited when I received an email from Emily asking if I would shoot her wedding. I’ve known Emily and her family for several years, her sister Alison and I worked on the photo desk at the Iowa State Daily & Ethos magazine together and she photographed t my brother’s wedding last November in Wisconsin. Her photos turned out beautifully, so I was happy to return the favor for their family!

The wedding itself was beautiful with the ceremony being held at St. Ambrose Cathedral in downtown Des Moines. After the ceremony the guests all met in the lobby of the Marriott and proceeded to have a Second Line parade through the street of downtown en route to the Temple of Performing Arts where their reception was held. The party was incredible, it was a great way to end the wedding season, looking forward to next year already! I’ll be posting more weddings from this year now that my time has freed up a bit, so stay tuned.

Wedding:: June 18 | Candace + Jonathan

So I had been looking forward to Jonathan & Candace’s wedding for a while, I had shot their engagement photos in the fall and they seemed like a very fun couple. Another reason I was excited was the wedding was taking place in the Rose Garden behind the Des Moines Art Center. I was nervous (maybe not as nervous as mr. & mrs. Bride & Groom) about the weather, the forecast was less than promising. Long story short, the weather cleared and the ceremony was absolutely beautiful, perfect light!

The reception was at Zart and the 2 weddings I have shot there have both been spectacular. They do a great job of turning the space into a beautiful wedding site, if you are looking for a reception site in Des Moines this place should definitely be one of your first stops.

Wedding:: May 28 | Adrienne + Brad

Memorial Day this year found us in Omaha, Nebraska at the beautiful Joslyn Art Museum for our first wedding of the summer and it was a great way to kick off the season. Libby works with Adrienne, the bride, at the One Campaign and always talked about how fun she was whenever she was in DC to visit the home base. Adrienne and Brad and their whole wedding party certainly lived up to the hype. Check out photos below from the day.
